We are a highly experienced, professional partnership offering Transport Management courses and Driver CPC on the Isle of Wight and Hampshire. Our company specialises in working to uphold the best possible standards for training and compliance with latest industry standards.
All vocational drivers of LGVs or HGVs are required to undergo 35 hours of training every five years. Island Transport Consultants provide a service that is flexible, professional, and competitively priced. With 30 years of experience in Transport Management commercially you can count on us to give you with the exact service need. In addition to Driver CPC and Transport Management, we also provide transport system audits, driving inductions, driving assessments, external transport management and refresher courses.
Driving LGV/HGV vehicles is becoming more complex and highly regulated, so it is paramount for transport professional drivers to receive comprehensive Driver CPC training. Our presentations are approved and governed by JAUPT. We then go the extra mile by making sure that the course includes all the key relevant information for you or your employees. We can present to classes from as little as three people or as many as 20. We frequently run open courses that individuals can attend. Call us or check our Facebook page to see details of these dates.
With our wealth of experience we offer full internal audits. Aligning your systems with Transport Law as well as checking current systems and recommending improvements where appropriate, Island Transport Consultants provide a comprehensive audit that will highlight any areas which require addressing, ensuring that your company remains compliant. We will identify anything that is wrong or missing and advise on best practice. This audit is a great opportunity to optimise processes and procedures to ensure that they are compliant and protect your O licence.
If your company does not have its own driver induction process, why not call us at Island Transport Consultants. We will present a comprehensive induction, covering aspects such as Health & safety, driving, maintenance and record keeping, Loading/Unloading procedures, drivers hours and working time regulations as well as incorporating a bespoke service to include useful items to your specific trade or industry sector.
Following completion of this course, you will be fully qualified as a competent Transport Manager and able to be included on an O licence. Transport Management is a high pressured and rewarding occupation, and these courses are of a high standard, providing you with the tools not only to pass the exam, but to run an efficient, compliant transport operation, ensuring best practice at all times.
Transport Managers must keep updated with developments in compliance, which is why we also provide a refresher course. Our refresher course, conducted over a two-day period, confirms that you have an up-to-date understanding of legislation and best practice. Once completed, you will receive a certificate of completion that demonstrates continued development in the Transport Management industry. Transport commissioners recommend that Transport Managers take a refresher course at least once every five years.
This service is designed to assess the ability of drivers and includes, Drivers' Daily walkaround checks, Coupling/Uncoupling procedures, record keeping and driving skills. Assessments include a written report on all aspects of driving and are conducted by an experienced former Army HGV driving examiner. This assessment takes approximately two hours per driver and will include an on-road assessment on various road conditions. We are able to tailor these assessments to ensure they meet your own exacting standards and any trade specific abilities.
Transport companies are legally obligated to appoint a competent Transport Manager. We have a number of years experience and can provide an external management service, representing you on your O licence. This can be either temporary - for example, due to the long term illness of the current manager - or perhaps until a suitable permanent candidate is found. We can also assist with the employment and interview process of a new manager. There are strict guidelines laid down by the traffic commissioners (indicated on the O licence) regarding the amount of time Transport Managers must set aside on compliance.
